The lowest note of a chord or other simultaneous harmonic structure, or the lowest-pitched "line" or "voice" of the many ocurring simultaneously in a polyphonic composition.
Normally the lowest-pitched staff used in regular musical notation, designated by the bass clef on the left side of the staff.
