Our "vertical" perception of differences in the frequencies of musical tones, from lowest to highest over the audible continuum.

Pitch is one of the 5 main aspects of most musical sounds, the other four being duration, loudness, phrasing, and location. Only periodic sounds exhibit pitch; most percussion sounds are aperiodic and thus do not exhibit specific pitches.
